Working team
The BEsmarter Analytics working team is a multidisciplinary group of data scientists with distinguished educational backgrounds including PhDs in Statistical Science, and MScs in Data Science and Analytics, Economics, Finance and System Engineering.
Our data scientists have been involved in projects with well-known international and national universities such as University of Pennsylvania, The University of Melbourne, Monash University, Universidad de Los Andes, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, among others.
Our team also has experience working on projects with multilateral institutions, public agencies and industry, such as the Inter-American Development Bank, the Colombian energy and gas regulation council, local Medellín government, Empresas Públicas de Medellín, Grupo Nutresa, Familia, Corona, RCN, among others.
Cofounders

Andrés Ramirez Hassan
PhD Statistics, MSc Economics, MSc Finance, Bachelor degree in Economics
Andrés Ramírez Hassan is a theory and applied econometrician working as a Professor in the School of Finance, Economics and Government at Universidad EAFIT (Medellín, Colombia), and he is also the Director of the research group OMEGA –Observatory of Markets and Enterprises: Guidelines and Applications-. He got a PhD in Statistical Science, two masters’ degrees, one in finance and another in economics, and a bachelor’s degree in Economics. In addition, he was a research fellow at the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia), and a visiting professor in the Department of Economics at Melbourne University. Having completed his PhD degree, much of his theory research has been in the area of Bayesian Econometrics with applications in finance, utilities, health, crime and sports. His work has been published (or is forthcoming) in the Econometric Reviews, Journal of Applied Econometrics, R Journal, Spatial Economic Analysis, Economic Inquiry, World Development, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Sport Economics, Empirical Economics, Economic Modeling and other highly regarded international research outlets. Andrés has also led projects for multilateral institutions, public agencies and industry such as Inter-American Development Bank, the Colombian energy and gas regulation council, the local Medellín government, Empresas Públicas de Medellín, Grupo Nutresa, among others.

Daniel Londoño Cano
Economist from Universidad EAFIT
Previously worked as a consultant in data sciences and econometrics, developing models for economic, political, and social phenomena.
His work includes developing a method to indirectly measure child malnutrition at the municipal level for Fundación Éxito, impact evaluation on public policies and infrastructure (IDB), conceptual design of Peace Observatories for Social Prosperity (DPS), spatial analysis for crime prevention in Medellín for the Medellín Mayor's Office, and forecasting models for water, gas and vehicular natural gas for Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM).
Currently completing a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Daniel has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals and received an award from the Fundación Cuidadana for the implementation of crime analysis practices in Latin America in 2018 and 2020.

Mateo Graciano Londoño
Bachelor’s degree in mathematical engineer and master’s degree in Data Science and Analytics from Universidad EAFIT, Medellín, Colombia.
Data scientist with 6+ years of experience who is also a problem solver that has faced a wide range of problems such as portfolio optimization, risk profiling (Quant finance) predicting productivity of salespersons, and talent churn (people analytics), in those problems I have worked from the very understanding of the problem to the deployment/implementation of the proposed solution. My great toolbox includes a deep understanding of statistics, math, and coding.
